Behind the Scenes of a Fairy Tale Production

Let's take a little peek behind the curtains. One curtain is how cookie manufacturers create the shapes we see on the grocery store shelves. The other curtain is our new photobooth setup. Let's take a look!

WHAT'S THIS?

This is an insert in a dough-shaping machine. Made from food-safe plastic, the (admittedly hard to see) smoothly angled surface guide the dough to the desired shape, in this case a man.

Prior to the start of the chase.

THAT'S COOL!

The angles and features are precisely calculated by our customer to ensure the dough flows smoothly from mixing to shaping. It's important to get the angles and the surface smoothness just right -- not too rough and not too smooth, but that's another fairy tale -- so that means we're using a our 5-axis milling machines.

Of course, people need lots of shapes for their cookies. Here's our little hero hanging out with some friends.

Three amigos.

And here is our new photobooth set up, with lights, colored backgrounds, and a turn table for videos.

Lights, camera... CUT! Be sure to get my good side! And where is my hair and make up team??

ABOUT POW!

Each week we will feature something we've been working on. We hope you'll find these posts informative.

As we get more experience with the photo studio we hope to bring you at least two of the following: better pictures, short videos and full length feature movies.
