This is a picture of an aluminum part we recently produced on one of our 5-axis milling machines.
Not a star chamber, but a star nonetheless.
This was a fun challenge to think through and execute.
The walls of the chamber are both tall and very thin, and maintaining their integrity and straightness was critical for our customer.
Even better, because of the part's function, both penetrations needed to be made from the same block as the chamber, so machining separately and welding was not an option.
The team got to work and built a plan to create this from a single block.
The result speaks for itself and the customer was happy, which is the real reward.
