A Moment of Beauty on the Shop Floor by [Adam Persson](https://emievans.com/blog-news/author/adam-persson) | Aug 10, 2026 - - - - - [Home](https://emievans.com/) \> - [Blog & News](https://emievans.com/blog-news) \>   This "beauty" is our Part of the Week. Let's take a look! ## WHAT'S THIS? This is one of EMI's chip barrels.   ## THAT'S COOL! I was walking though the shop the other day with something on my mind when I pulled up short. Like every machine shop, EMI collects metal chips as they come out of our production machines. In our case, we put them in large iron barrels which makes it easy for our recylcing partner to do their work. Like finding a flower sprouting from a crack in a sidewalk, I suddenly noticed the staining on the side of the barrel. Beautiful.   ![IMG\_2264 jpg](https://emievans.com/hs-fs/hubfs/IMG_2264%20jpg.jpg?width=400&height=533&name=IMG_2264%20jpg.jpg) Normally we don't much like rust. But this exceptional. And acceptable.   What sudden moments of beauty have you found in your own workplace?   ## ABOUT POW! Each week we will feature something we've been working on. We hope you'll find these posts informative. --- ## REPOST TO SHARE If you think your compadres would find this interesting then click one of the social media icons at the top (on the right, just under the post title).
