This is an aluminum part that started as a billet, and was machined and given a black anodized finish.
The lifecycle of a part. <sniffles> They grow up so fast!
We can see the transition from billet (top of left picture) to machined (right picture) to black anodized and laser marked finished part (bottom of left picture).
This part was machined form solid billet using one of our 5-axis machines, which reduces setup time (and cost!) and improves dimensional accuracy of the final part.
