This "beauty" is our Part of the Week. Let's take a look!
WHAT'S THIS?
Let's talk about honing. Which is something that is not at all boring.
THAT'S COOL!
Honing is a machining process to improve the inner surface of a cylindrical part. The goals of honing can include correcting inaccuracies from boring or drilling operations, improving dimensional accuracy and yielding a specific surface roughness or texture.
The video below shows EMI's vertical honing CNC machine in action.
Who could possibly find this video boring?
One of the nice things here is the CNC controls are able to sense and correct a tiny imperfection even if it's on one side of the middle of the shaft, giving us the ability to deliver precision results to our customers every time.
EMI's honing machine can handle parts up to 5 1/2 inches in diameter by 11 inches long. (And for diameters up to 8", we can acquire special work holdings to accommodate your part.)
If you have a "boring" but challenging part, let us know how we can help you achieve your desired outcome.
ABOUT POW!
Each week we will feature something we've been working on. We hope you'll find these posts informative.
