CNC PRECISION MACHINING

A Full Range of Precision Machining Capabilities

Expert Outsourced Manufacturing

EMI's more than 40 state-of-the-art CNC machines form the core of our manufacturing capabilities, providing a wide range of precision CNC machining services, such as 5-axis milling, turning, grinding, wire EDM and more.

Each of these processes is a form of "subtractive manufacturing" wherein the final shape of a component is achieved by removing material. This category differs from other forming processes like stamping and additive manufacturing in important ways.

Machining vs. Stamping

Machining compares favorably for parts requiring high precision, tight tolerances and high complexity. The stamping process involves pressing flat sheets into a die and is preferred for less precise, less complicated, higher volume parts where cost is an important driver. Machining also is appropriate for a much wider range of metal and non-metallic materials.

Machining vs. Additive Manufacturing

Machining can be performed on a wider range of materials and compares favorably for high precision parts needed in larger volumes. Additive Manufacturing, where a part is built up by adding successive layers of materials, excels in small batches and proof concept prototyping, and for parts where porosity and strength are less of a consideration.
