POW! The Importance of Zero, Zilch, Nada, Nil, Bupkiss…

This beauty is our Part of the Week. Let's take a look!

WHAT'S THIS?

This short video shows one of our horizontal milling centers establishing the zero point on both ends of the workpiece.

Ok Bob, I'll take what's behind Door #1.

THAT'S COOL!

Here we see one of our two Mazak HCN-5000 horizontal machining centers automatically setting the zero coordinates for the X, Y and Z axes for the workpiece before we start cutting.

The whole point of CNC is that the computer controls both the workpiece and the cutting tools, and then runs through a series of pre-programmed moves. But these moves MUST start from a known position or the final result will not yield the desired results.

EMI's CNC machines are set to "find the zero" so we can create precision results that match our customer's vision to within a few ten thousandths of an inch.
