A Delrin Wafer with 196 Through Holes

This beauty is our Part of the Week. Let's take a look!

WHAT'S THIS?

Pictured below is a Delrin wafer with more than a dozen dozen through holes.

THAT'S COOL!

This was a fun project to work on and we performed an interesting combination of activities. First we cut the wafers to achieve the desired thickness. Then we used a series of mill ends to drill nearly two hundred holes.

Then we used our 4-axis laser to etch the letters and numbers, and filled them in using the special certified paint our customer required.

The biggest challenge with this part was keeping the wafers parallel and true during the cutting and drilling operations, and the team did a fantastic job on them.
